The difference between polycarbonate panel greenhouses and multi-span film greenhouses

Greenhouses are very important for agricultural production. The common greenhouses we see include PC board greenhouses and traditional plastic film greenhouses. So, when comparing PC board greenhouses with plastic film greenhouses, which one is more suitable for use as a vegetable greenhouse?

First, we can compare their materials. PC board greenhouses use PC boards, which are not only more aesthetically pleasing in appearance but also have a longer service life. In contrast, plastic films need to be replaced by users approximately every two years, which shows that PC boards are more time- and labor-saving.

Second, resource conservation is what we advocate nowadays, so we can compare the two in terms of energy efficiency. The thermal conductivity (K value) of plastic film is much higher than that of PC boards, making it easier to lose heat.

Next, we compare their impact resistance. It is obvious which one has better impact resistance. One type of PC board—sunlight board—is known as "unbreakable glass" and "resonant steel." Moreover, the PC sunlight board does not become brittle at -100°C, nor does it soften at 135°C.

Fire is a safety hazard that must be avoided in any environment, so we can compare fire retardancy and fire resistance. After inspection, the PC sunlight board falls into B-level flame retardant, self-extinguishing when away from fire, and it does not produce toxic gases or spread flames. PC board greenhouses have relatively excellent fire resistance. However, plastic films ignite immediately when exposed to fire, and we often see incidents where farmers suffer significant financial losses due to thin-film greenhouses.

From the above comparisons, we can see that PC board greenhouses are indeed more suitable than traditional plastic film greenhouses for use as vegetable greenhouses. It is believed that in the future, they will gradually replace plastic film greenhouses.
